Wade in the Water

[recorded live on the East Terrace of the Parliament of World Religions, Chicago 2023]

Maybe I cannot walk on the water.

But there’s a power that can part those waters wide.

And maybe I lack the courage to cross over to the other side.

But there’s a power that is greater, that can work through me to work my faith.

All I need is to get started. All I need to do is start to wade.

Wade in the water. Wade in the water children. Wade in the water.

There’s a power workin’ through the water.

Who’s that yonder dressed in red? Must be the children that are spirit-led!

Wade in the water. Wade in the water children. Wade in the water.

There’s a power workin’ through the water.

Who’s that yonder dressed in black? Must be the children that will never turn back   . . .

Who’s that yonder dress in white? Must be the children who are followin’ the Light    . . .

Who’s that yonder dressed in green? Must be the children who are followin’ the Dream    . . .

Who’s that yonder dressed like a rainbow? Must be the children of God, you know, she loves them so    . . .
